With a solid educational background, Ms. Khadijah A. Ba gained extensive experience in Exploration and Production (E&P) at reputable organizations such as British Petroleum Calgary, Canada; Technip Abu Dhabi; Schlumberger Middle East S.A.
To deepen her knowledge, she also dedicated several months to learn about commodity trading, including precious metals.
Led by her passion for the Energy business, her acquired expertise and under the guidance of her father Ahmad Ba, she established her own company in the UAE, Der Mond Oil and Gas, in 2015.
In her early 20s, Ms. Khadijah A. Ba immersed herself in the Energy business.
She also travelled extensively, securing multi-million dollar contracts bringing to the company the vital capital needed for growth and new ventures. Her perseverance and unwavering commitment to strong ethics quickly earned her a reputation as a unique African female player in the industry.
However, her journey was not without its challenges. In 2021, Ms. Khadijah A. Ba’s ascent was flawed by a scandal involving her role model, part of the family, and the Regional Director, transpassing the company’s code of conduct, who did money embezzlement, engaged in unethical behavior that tarnished one of her branches’ reputation.
Despite her young age, Ms. Khadijah A. Ba refused to be defeated and insisted on keeping her company’s name, despite many people advising her to change it. She was determined to prove that she was proud of her ethical values and the reputation she had worked so hard to build. She consulted experts and received their report identifying all the proofs of betrayal. After months of investigation in all branches of the company in West Africa, today those under suspicion are in the hands of justice. She wants to make it absolutely clear: she will not protect or cover for anyone engaging in wrongdoing – no exceptions. Her commitment is to integrity and transparency.
In 2022, as owner and president, she drew strength from adversity and was driven by her commitment to align with the industry’s shift toward sustainability and clean Energy. She rebranded her company Der Mond Energies and initiated a deep restructuring. This marked not only the continuation of her business but also a reinforced commitment to her ethical core values, future growth, and the incorporation of renewable energies and innovative technologies in her business.
Like a Royal Eagle, the brand mark of her company, she raises stronger and more resolute than ever, seizing the opportunities for opening new branches or representative offices around the world.
Today, Ms Khadijah A. Ba heads Der Mond Energies with a determined spirit and a vision for the future.
